What is Books.by?

Books.by is a next-generation publishing platform that lets authors and small publishers create their own print-on-demand bookstore — complete with global distribution, daily royalties, and full creative control.

When a reader buys your book, it’s printed on demand through the same global networks used by major publishers, and shipped directly to the customer — without you handling inventory or logistics.

You set your retail price, earn royalties daily, and have a transparent view of your customers.

Can I use Books.by in addition to Amazon and Ingram?

Yes. If your book is already published with Amazon or another self-publisher, it is possible to also publish it with Books.by. There is no conflict or exclusivity. In fact, most Books.by authors are already publishing their books on Amazon, and choose to send customers to their Books.by link for higher earnings.

How much will I earn on my book?

You earn 100% of the sales proceeds after deducting the book printing and shipping costs. We show you a breakdown of costs when you select your retail price, so that you can forecast your earnings. The average Books.by author receives a 38% royalty.

Do you print in Black & White and Color?

Yes, we print in both black and white, and color, with options available to suit longer format cookbooks or comics, and shorter premium children's books with rich colour illustrations.

How do royalties work, and how often do I get paid?

Royalties are paid daily, on the day that your order is dispatched to your reader, directly to your nominated bank account.

You earn the full 100% net royalty on every order. Books.by does not take any commission, or mark up the cost of printing. Your royalty is calculated by:

How does Books.by make money?

Rather than take a commission on the sale of your book, we earn our income by charging a flat annual fee for the use of the Books.by platform. This allows us to invest in building more tools for authors, while affording you the margins to sell more books.

Who owns the rights to my book?

You do, 100%. Books.by is a platform — not a publisher. You retain full copyright, ISBN ownership, and all creative and commercial rights to your work.

What countries is Books.by available in?

Books.by is available in the USA, Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and Europe. We have printing facilities all around the world (predominantly in the USA, Europe, UK and Australia), with international shipping options to provide global sales coverage.
